Our Story

Hendrick & Co. was founded in 2011 simply to save animals in need. With every shirt, hoodie, bracelet or dog accessory purchased, Hendrick & Co. delivers a $10 donation to save animals. More than 600 rescues, shelters and sanctuaries in the U.S. and Canada have partnered with Hendrick & Co. and to date, Hendrick & Co. has donated more than $1 million.

“I started Hendrick & Co. for one reason only – to save animals in need. And, it begins with you. Only together can we save those who have been abused, those who need a voice and those who just need love.”

– David Hendrickson, H&C Founder

With every purchase made, you can help save an animal in need. Hendrick & Co. has partnered with more than 600 rescues, sanctuaries and shelters across the U.S. and Canada. Through our Giving Partners, we create campaign for animals in need. With every purchase you make, you can help save an animal and support our Giving Partners in their mission.

Animals in Need

Our most recent campaigns for animals in need are below.

Nearly 7 years ago, Hendrick & Co. founder David Hendrickson met a 6-month-old Chihuahua puppy at the local shelter. David soon learned that the puppy had been poisoned via his mother who had ingested household chemicals. William, as he would be called, was not expected to live for long. David adopted William that same day, if only to give him the best last few weeks of his life. Now, William is healthy, happy and the inspiration behind Hendrick & Co.

Wanting to help the same shelters and rescues that saved William, David Hendrickson founded Hendrick & Co. in 2011. What began with a simple idea that one rescue tee can save an animal in need has grown into a powerful movement, with hundreds of products, that support more than 600 local animal shelters, rescues and sanctuaries across the nation.

Every product, from rescue tees and tanks to bracelets, totes, dog hoodies and leashes, triggers a $10 donation to save animals and support local animal rescues and shelters.

Based in Anaheim, California, Hendrick & Co. is a vehicle that connects local animal nonprofits with people, from all walks of life, who want to join in our sole mission to save animals in need. Through the purchase of human and animal apparel and accessories, Hendrick & Co. has given more than $1 million to save animals, especially those who have fallen victim to severe abuse, neglect, torture and abandonment.

Saving animals has never looked so good! Gifts that give back and gifts that save animals is at the heart of what we do.

David Hendrickson

Born and raised in Northern San Diego, David Hendrickson is the Chief Animal Saver at Hendrick & Co. His love of animals started early in life when, at the age of 7, his family adopted their first rescue dog. A triplet, David and his brothers frequently volunteered at local animal shelters and grew up with 5 rescues that became a part of his family and a way of life. David soon realized the amazing role local animal shelters and rescue programs play on the front lines of saving animals.

Inspired by his own rescue dog William, David Hendrickson started Hendrick & Co. with the simple idea that a shirt can save an animal in need. Initially partnering with local nonprofits in Southern California, David has expanded the network of nonprofit partners nationally — now over 600 strong. He makes frequent trips to schools to

carry the message of saving animals to a younger generation. And, he has been sought after and featured in the likes of the Los Angeles Times, Entrepreneur Magazine, Fast Company, Modern Dog, Rescue Magazine and NBC.

On top of overseeing the entire Hendrick & Co. operations and strategy, David continues to design the company’s shirts and manage DailyMutt.com, an online news portal aimed at raising awareness of the issues affecting animals wordwide.

David lives in Orange County, California with his three rescue dogs, William, Oliver and Tayler.

Stop Tax Payer Funded Animal Testing

My friend and Animal Rights Activist/Taxpayer Watchdog, Anthony Bellotti, is doing some wonderful work saving animals and saving you from paying for it! Get Educated!

Message from the Founder:

Welcome to the first issue of The Taxpayer Watchdog.

Welcome to the first issue of The Taxpayer Watchdog

In each issue of The Taxpayer Watchdog you can expect to be shocked … outraged … educated … and motivated to stop $12 BILLION+ in wasteful government spending that funds cruel and unnecessary animal experiments.

Recently, the Senate Appropriations Committee passed a spending bill that squanders $2 billion more to the National Institutes of Health (NIH). Here’s the problem: about $1 billion will be wasted on new animal experiments.

To stop taxpayer-funded animal experiments we must stop wasteful government spending. That’s what our campaign is all about. The Taxpayer Watchdog will keep you up to speed as campaign 2016 heats up.

After all, I founded White Coat Waste Project after witnessing and participating in horrific taxpayer-funded animal experiments 20 years ago.

I saw an opportunity to unite all Americans to STOP wasteful spending on taxpayer-funded animal experiments. Thanks to your support, it’s working … National Review calls it a “refreshing consensus-building argument.”

But we’ve got a lot of work in front of us. We’ve got to expose more waste and abuse in the halls of power. Because it’s so critical we keep up our early momentum, any donation will be DOUBLED – dollar-for-dollar – up to $200,000 thanks to our generous friends at The Greenbaum Foundation.

That means your tax-deductible contribution will have TWICE the IMPACT in stopping taxpayer-funded animal abuse where it counts most: Congress.

Together, we can STOP taxpayer-funded animal experiments.

P.S. Any tax-deductible donation you make will be matched dollar-for-dollar. Please help us raise an unprecedented $400,000 to clean up the waste and save more lives from taxpayer-funded torture!

Stopping Taxpayer-Funded Animal Experiments with LUSH Cosmetics

It’s official: we’re now a Charity Partner of LUSH Cosmetics, who is lending its strong support to help us stop taxpayer-funded animal experiments.

Erika Edwards of LUSH states: “We believe in supporting projects that aim to tackle the root cause of the problem rather than treating the symptom. That’s why we contributed to the work of White Coat Waste.

We held a special tax week event with LUSH to educate taxpayers and other political and media power players in Washington. LUSH also provided a generous financial grant that’s been doubled, as part of our $200,000 matching grant opportunity.

NIH Doesn’t Have a Funding Problem. It Has a Spending Problem.

First it was shrimp on treadmills. Then dogs on treadmills. Now monkeys on treadmills …

The Washington Examiner‘s Paige Winfield Cunningham covers our response to the NIH spending increase:

“With a national debt of $19 trillion, the last thing Congress needs to be doing is increasing spending on an agency notorious for its waste of $12 billion a year in taxpayer money on things like ‘discovering’ that male rats like ejaculating or that monkeys who smoke crack behave like crack-smoking monkeys.”

Exposed: $82,822.31 Wasted on “Stuttering Mice” Abuse

Ever wonder how taxpayer-funded experimenters actually make a mouse “stutter?”

Answer: forcibly separate her from her mom, amputate her tail, and deliver electric shock her paws.

Thanks to your support we recently exposed this waste before millions of taxpayers on national TV.

Our shocking exposé made headlines and received media coverage from Fox News and The Washington Free Beacon, and publicized by other taxpayer watchdog groups in Washington.

The Government’s Battle Against Opioid Addiction Is Important. It’s Also Wasteful.

Recently, the House passed funding to battle the opioid epidemic tearing apart many of our communities. Meanwhile, President Obama called for $1.1 billion in emergency funding. Here’s our response in the Huffington Post:

“How does LSD impact bunny rabbits ($6.5 million, NIH payout)? And how does a female monkey function when she’s high on cocaine ($1.3 million)? Hopefully, you have a burning interest in the answers to such questions, because you just paid to find out via your IRS bill last week … Surely we can all agree that these federal dollars could be better spent somewhere else. Anywhere else.”
